- Canada Research Chair in Electromagnetic Engineering, (First and only Tier 1 Chair at RMC) May 2002 – renewed in July 2009 and again in July 2016.
- May 2015 Recipient of the IEEE Canada J.M. Ham Outstanding Engineering Educator Award
- Class of 1965 Teaching Excellence Award, RMC (May 2012), first time ever given for Graduate Teaching
- June 2016, IEEE Antennas and Propagation Edward E. Altshuler Prize Paper Award, for the paper co-authored with Simon Henault titled “Unifying the Theory of Mutual Coupling Compensation in Antenna Arrays”, IEEE AP Magazine, vol. 57, no. 2, pp. 104-122, April 2015

- Appointed by the Deputy Minister and CDS to the Department of National Defence Science Advisory Board (DSAB) January 2011, renewed for a second term in January 2014.
- Elected to the Board of URSI (International Union of Radio Science) as Vice President, August 2008 and again in August 2014.
- Elected National Chair of the Canadian National Commission (CNC) of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI) since August 1999. Served before as a Chair for one of the Commissions (B) since selected in 1991. Helped to bring many major international symposia to Canada.
- Served on the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Grants Selection Committee (1999-2001), Canada Research Chair College of Reviewers, NSERC Strategic Panel, National Review Science Foundation in the US (NSF) panels and the Ontario Early Research Awards (ERA) Provincial Review Panels and other international panels.
- Editorial Boards: Associate Editor of the IEEE – Antennas and Propagations Magazine, Associate Editor, IET. Served as Associate Editor, IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation. Associate Editor, IEEE-AWPL, Associate Editor, RF and Microwave Computer-Aided Engineering Journal, Advisor to the HKIE (Hong Kong Institute of Engineers) Transactions, Advisor to many international symposia in North America, Europe and in the Far East.
- URSI – 2007 Chair of the North American Radio Science Ottawa, July 2007. Chaired and Co-chaired ANTEM Conference, session in IEEE International Symposia in USA and Canada, ICEAA (Italy), ICCS, Plenary Talks at Several International Conferences, etc.
- Co-founder of the ANTEM Conference Series that started in 1986.
- First and Second Best Paper awards at major International Conferences, four times Graduate Students received the Governor General Gold Medal for best thesis at RMC and the ‘Outstanding PhD’ Award in the Division of Applied Science at Queen’s University (2002 and 2013).
- Associate Director of the Defence and Security Research Institute (DRDC and RMC jointly established in 2008). Served on the Chief Scientists Network for DRDC (2009-2014) representing RMC and secured 4 TIFs and other research grants for RMC faculty during this term.
- Recipient of Principal’s Appreciation Medal, RMC, 2008.
- Recipient of the RMC Commandant’s Coin for Distinguished Service to RMC and the CF, 2012.
- Selected as one of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society Distinguished Lecturers since 2012. In this capacity delivered invited Distinguished Lectures around the world about his research, e.g. gave 10 lectures in the U.S.A., Canada, Europe and the East during 2014.
